Turbine manufacturer Nordex has delayed publication of its first quarter financial results after a cyber attack.

It had planned to publish the results on 12 May, but now expects to publish its first quarter financials in mid-June. It is yet to decide the exact publication date for the report.

The German firm had first detected the hack on 31 March and shut down IT systems across various business units as a precautionary measure.

This temporarily restricted access to various systems has delayed internal processes, Nordex explained.

Nordex is not the only turbine manufacturer to be hit by a cyber attack in recent months, with fellow Germans Enercon suffering the impact of a satellite error as Russia invaded Ukraine, and Danish firm Vestas being hit by a ransomware attack in November.

Nordex had already reported a slight drop in turbine sales in the first quarter of 2022 ahead of publishing its full financial results for the period.

In its full-year 2021 results, the turbine manufacturer’s net losses widened and it stated that it expects continuing transportation and raw material cost pressures to be exacerbated by the war in Ukraine.
