Enercon wins large wind turbine order in Turkey

Energy Disrupter

Enercon is due to send 64 of its E-138 EP3 model turbines to different wind farms located across Turkey.

The turbines are due to be sent to six wind farms: the 40MW Elâzığ and 40MW Bayburt projects in the east of the country, the 50MW Ankara project in central Turkey, the 20MW Trabzon and 40MW Ordu projects near the Black Sea coast, and the 70MW Bilecik wind farm planned in the north-west.

Kalyon secured offtake agreements for the projects in the latest round of Turkey’s Yeka auction scheme which tenders wind farms to developers in the country. The latest round – Yeka Res III – saw 850MW of onshore wind farm projects tendered in 20 different regions across the country.

Enercon said that, with the exception of nacelles, all the main components of the E-138 EP3 turbines it is supplying for the project will be built in Turkey. A spokesperson added that the nacelles would be made in Germany.

Installation of the turbines is due to start in July 2024.

Enercon has supplied turbines for nearly 2.4GW of operational wind farms in Turkey, according to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly. It is due to supply a further 1.1GW of wind farms, including projects covered by a 1GW deal last year.
