Fossil Energy – Bonga Field Nigeria

Argeo, an Oslo-listed offshore service company, has secured a contract with Shell’s Nigerian subsidiary, SNEPCo, and local content partner GOSL for deepwater inspection services in the Bonga field offshore Nigeria.

The contract encompasses inspection services for subsea assets, including pipelines, infrastructure, and flowline systems, along with geophysical surveys of adjacent areas.

The first work program involves the deployment of Argeo’s recently acquired Hugin Superior Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) and its upgraded subsea vessel, the Argeo Searcher.

The comprehensive survey will focus on monitoring the integrity of subsea infrastructure and assessing approximately 180 km of various pipelines in the Bonga field.

Key data acquisition tools and payloads include Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS), sub-bottom profiler, Argeo LISTEN contactless cathodic protection measurements, images of specific locations, and multi-beam bathymetry.

Shell’s requirement for optimal data quality and positioning accuracy mandates the use of an AUV for data acquisition.

The contract includes an option for extension with additional scopes of work, and the project is scheduled to commence in Q4-2023.

The extensions, if exercised, will be handled through change-work-orders (CWO) and may involve up to 4-8 weeks of additional work in the area, subject to Argeo-approved work assessments and availability.
