Registrations are now open for the New Zealand Geothermal Week 2023, from 24 to 29 July 2022 in Taupo, the heart of New Zealand’s geothermal industry.

Now on its third year, the New Zealand Geothermal Week will be taking place on 24 to 29 July 2023 with the theme “Energy Transitions in Aotearoa – The Role of Geothermal.” The event will be held in and around the Taupo Volcanic Zone, where New Zealand’s world-class geothermal industry is concentrated.

This event week celebrates and showcases New Zealand’s world-class and growing geothermal industry, and is co-hosted by Amplify, the economic development agency for the Taupo District, and the New Zealand Geothermal Association (NZGA).  Now in its third year, the week is wrapped around the NZGA’s annual Winter Seminar, with 20 events on offer for industry, schools and local communities.

This year’s theme reflects on how geothermal can support New Zealand’s transition to a net carbon zero economy by 2050.  The week has been hugely popular, with over 4,000 attendees taking part in various events in previous years.

The line-up for industry includes the NZGA Winter Seminar, two field trips, four workshops on Industry Clusters, Workforce, CO2 and GeoHeat, and numerous fun and informal networking events.  For wider communities and schools, events include STEAM outreach into schools, science and photography competitions, and public tours of a Contact Energy geothermal steam field and power station.

Spaces are limited, with several booking out in previous years, so be sure to register soon. Registration for all events is via the official event website.
