Chinese OEM Windey in line to supply massive Serbian wind farm

Windey is due to supply 112 of its WD200 7.7MW turbines for the project and maintain the wind farm for ten years under the terms of the conditional agreement.

It will be built near Subotica, Serbia’s northernmost city on the border with neighbouring Hungary. 

A spokesperson for Fintel told Windpower Monthly construction for Maestrale Ring was expected to start in September this year, with delivery beginning in October. The project is due to come online as a whole in late 2025, they added. 

On completion, Maestrale Ring alone would have a capacity more than double Serbia’s currently installed wind capacity of 398MW.

Fintel also recently named Windey as the preferred supplier for more than 100MW of capacity across five other wind farms in Serbia.

Civil work and connections on those projects are expected to be completed this year with all five due to come online and be supplying power by January 2024.

Windey previously supplied wind turbines for projects in China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Turkey and elsewhere in Serbia, according to a presentation on its website.
