The International Geothermal Association is accepting applications for funding for geothermal direct use projects in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

The International Geothermal Association (IGA) has issued a call for proposals for possible funding of geothermal direct use projects in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. Funding will be offered to geothermal direct use applications for heating and cooling of buildings, greenhouses, aquaculture, agricultural drying, or spa and bathing.

All interested stakeholders are invited to get in touch via iga@lovegeothermal.org with the subject line “Social Impact Fund” no later than 30 January 2023.

The funding application is open for businesses or project developers in the LAC region involved in the food and agricultural markets who want to utilize geothermal energy to expand their businesses. Those who are already involved in any form of geothermal direct use project development are also eligible.

The IGA has provided the following guide questions for preparing a project pitch for the funding application:

  • What is the project about?
  • What type of direct use application is planned?
  • Where is the project located?
  • What is the project status?
  • What is the funding gap?
