Siemens Gamesa’s 11MW offshore wind turbines destined for German North Sea

Siemens Gamesa has agreed to supply 23 SG 11.0-200 DD turbines to Ørsted’s 242MW Gode Wind 3 Gode Wind 3 (242MW) Offshorenorth of Juist and Norderney, Germany, Europe Click to see full details wind farm. It will mark the first installation of the turbines in German waters. The project is under development in the North Sea, 40km north of the island of Norderney.

A preferred supplier agreement had been signed in March 2020, while the firm order also includes a five-year service agreement. The nacelles will be produced in Cuxhaven, Germany.

Marc Becker, CEO of the Siemens Gamesa offshore business unit, and managing director of Siemens Gamesa in Germany, said: “We are delighted to be working with Ørsted on the Gode Wind 3 offshore wind power plant. This project is significant as it introduces the SG 11.0-200 DD to the German market.”

The wind farm is due to be fully commissioned by 2024.
