Chemicals producer Dow signs eight wind and solar PPAs

Chemicals manufacturer Dow has signed eight new PPAs in Europe and the Americas. They will provide it with output from 132MW of wind and solar installations, taking its total renewable power access to more than 850MW.

Six agreements relate to power for eight Dow sites in Spain, the UK, Sweden, France and Germany. 

One in Brazil has been signed with Casa dos Ventos, linked to a new wind farm in Rio Grande do Norte. It will supply 60MW to Dow’s site in Cabangu.

Another has been agreed with Capital Power Corporation in Canada. Dow claims it is “one of the leading purchasers of clean power in the chemical industry” and one of the 20 largest corporate purchasers of clean energy globally. Its stated aim is to become “the most sustainable materials science company in the world”.
