Vattenfall to balance Finnish wind for Google

Vattenfall and European clean investor Glennmont Partners will provide balancing services for a new onshore wind farm, due to be one of the largest in Finland.

Tech giant Google will buy a portion of the subsidy-free project’s estimated 700GWh annual production.

Glennmont owns a majority stake (85%) in Piiparinmäki, with Japanese utility Kansai Electric Power holding the 15% remainder.

The project will feature 41 Vestas turbines – 13 V150-4.2MW units and 28 V150-5.6MW turbines – and is due online next year.
