Taaleri fund acquires two Finnish wind farms

Taaleri SolarWind II fund and co-investors have acquired Finland’s subsidy-free 126MW Isoneva Isoneva (126MW) OnshoreSiikajoki, Finland, Europe Click to see full details and 126MW Murtotuuli Murtotuuli (126MW) OnshorePosio, Finland, Europe Click to see full details wind farms from developers Taaleri Energia and Taaleri Group. 

The Isoneva wind farm is located in the municipality of Siikajoki in north-western Finland, around 70km south-west of the city of Oulu, while Murtotuuli is located in the municipality of Posio in northern Finland, approximately 200km north-east of Oulu. Both projects started construction in April 2021 and are due online by the end of next year.

Taaleri Energia Operations will provide EPC services (engineering, procurement and construction) during the construction phase and management services in the operational phase.

Vestas will supply 42 of its V162-6.0 MW turbines and maintain them under a 35-year contract.

The electricity generated by the wind farms will be sold under 15-year power purchase agreements to Finnish energy company Suomen Voima.

They are fully commercial, subsidy free, utilise the very latest wind turbine technology and demonstrate the value of our in-house project development, construction, technical and commercial management capabilities”, said Taaleri Energia’s managing director, Kai Rintala.

The Taaleri SolarWind II fund invests in utility-scale wind and solar assets. Its current portfolio amounts to approximately 850MW of renewable energy capacity and includes assets in the Nordics and Baltics, Poland, South East Europe, Iberia and Texas. 

The fund’s investors include the European Investment Bank, Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Obligo Global Infrastruktur II Fund, the Finnish Church Pension Fund, the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation, the Taaleri Group and a range of pension funds, foundations and endowments.
