OX2 plans 5.5GW Swedish offshore wind farm

OX2 has filed an application for a 5.5GW offshore wind farm in the Swedish Baltic Sea.

The wind farm could be built in one of the three offshore wind zones that the Swedish government unveiled last month.

OX2 plans to use up to 370 turbines – indicating an average power rating of about 14.8GW – with a maximum tip height of 370 metres. It estimates the wind farm could produce about 24TWh of electricity annually.

It has applied for a Natura 2000 permit under EU law and filed an environmental impact assessment. The permitting application is being considered by the county administration board of Gotland.

OX2’s Swedish portfolio of wind projects is nearly 11.3GW, of which about 2.9GW is onshore and 8.3GW is offshore.
