Nordex receives orders for 245MW onshore wind in South America

Norway-based renewable energy company Statkraft has placed an order for the supply and installation of 14 N163/5.X turbines for the 80MW Morro do Cruzeiro I & II Morro do Cruzeiro I & II (80MW) OnshoreBrotas de Macaúbas, Bahia, Brazil, Central & South America Click to see full details wind farm in Brazil.

Installation of the turbines is due to start in the summer of 2023. The turbines will be supplied with a rating of 5.7MW and feature 120-metre concrete towers, according to Nordex. The nacelles, hubs, rotor blades and towers will be manufactured in Brazil, the German OEM added.

The wind farm is being built in a mountainous area of the municipality of Brotas de Macaúbas, in the state of Bahia.

Nordex said the order includes a three-year premium service contract with an option to extend.  

The second order is for a 165MW wind farm in Chile, for 29 N163/5.X turbines, again at 5.7MW. Nordex did not disclose the developer or the location of the site.

Delivery is scheduled for autumn with commissioning of first turbines planned at the end of 2022.

The order includes a two-year service contract with the option to extend.

The orders were placed in December but were disclosed for the first time today (14 January).

Nordex installed the N163/5.X prototype from its Delta4000 series at a community wind farm in northern Germany.
