Indian wind turbine orders surge past 500MW in June

Turbine manufacturers from across the globe announced large orders for India in June, all in the state of Gujara, boosting the Asian country’s monthly total beyond 500MW, according to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly.

On 1 June, Suzlon publicly announced a firm turbine order for the first time since December 2018. In the intervening years, the company teetered on the brink of insolvency and underwent a lengthy debt restructuring process.

The company is due to supply 120 units of its S120-140 model — each with a rated capacity of 2.1MW and hybrid lattice tubular tower — to the 252MW SECI 8 (CLP India) SECI 8 (CLP India) (252MW) OnshoreSiddhpur, Gujarat, India, Asia-Pacific Click to see full details wind farm.

The project is located in Sidhpur, Gujarat, and is expected to be commissioned in 2022.

The 101MW extension adds to ReNew Power’s existing 250MW wind farm.

It is due to begin delivering 46 of its V120-2.2MW turbines in the fourth quarter of 2021, ahead of project commissioning scheduled between December 2021 and Q1 2022.

Continuum Green Energy won the project during the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI’s) sixth wind tender.
