Registration open for Leapfrog Energy Sedimentary Basin Workshop, 6-7 Feb 2024
Registration is now open for a free 2-part workshop series on the use of Seequent’s Leapfrog Energy for geothermal and other projects in sedimentary basins.
Seequent, The Bentley Subsurface Company, will be hosting a two-part free, online workshop on Leapfrog Energy from 6 February to 7 February 2024. The workshop will cover the basics of Leapfrog Energy and energy projects in sedimentary basins, such as sedimentary-hosted geothermal resources, geological CO2 storage, ground modeling for wind projects, and petroleum reservoirs.
Leapfrog Energy was launched in May 2023, expanding the company’s subsurface modeling capabilities and helping the energy industry to solve the challenges of the rapidly evolving transition. Leapfrog Energy brings together Seequent’s world-leading geological modelling solution and geostatistical capability, along with the company’s experience in geothermal, mining, civil engineering and environment, into a targeted industry solution.
The workshops will be presented by Josh Sellars, Project Geophysicist for Seequent. The details of the individual workshops are as follows:
Leapfrog Energy Sedimentary Basin Workshop: Part 1 – Basics and Model Building
Date and time: February 6, 8AM to 10AM (Pacific)
Registration: Register via this link
In the first session, you will learn the basic concepts and tools necessary to start using Leapfrog Energy and basic geological modelling.
Join a 2-hour interactive workshop covering:
- Navigating the user interface
- Basic functions and workflows
- Importing and visualising geological and well data
- Basic geological and numerical modelling
Datasets and access to Leapfrog Energy will be provided during the workshop sessions (pending approval).
Joining Part 2 on Sedimentary Basin Applied Workflows and new to Leapfrog Energy? Attending Part 1 is a prerequisite if you do not have previous Leapfrog Energy experience.
Leapfrog Energy Sedimentary Basin Workshop: Part 2 – Applied Workflows
Date and time: February 7, 8 AM – 12 PM (Pacific)
Registration: Register via this link
This is Part 2 of a 2-part Leapfrog Energy sedimentary workshop series. Previous modelling experience with Leapfrog Energy, or attendance at our “Part 1 Leapfrog Energy: Basics and Model Building” is required.
This session will focus on modeling sedimentary environments in Leapfrog Energy. You will discover the tools and features applicable to energy projects in sedimentary basins, such as sedimentary-hosted geothermal resources, geological CO2 storage, ground modeling for wind projects, and petroleum reservoirs.
This course will teach you to build geological model based on well and seismic (SEG-Y) datasets and data analysis using block modelling techniques.
Join the 4-hour interactive workshop covering:
- Importing 3D seismic SEG-Y data
- Building a geological model from seismic horizons and well data
- Import and analyzing wireline data
- Performing calculations, applying filters and reporting modelling results
Datasets and access to Leapfrog Energy will be provided during the workshop session (pending approval).
