The Global Operations of Women in Geothermal (WING) has officially transitioned to WING Türkiye who will be at the helm for the 2023-2026 term.

The Global Operations Team of Women in Geothermal (WING) has officially shifted from the U.S. to Türkiye. The official transition event of the Global Operations Team was held as a webinar on July 26, 2023.

Women in Geothermal (WING) Türkiye, established in October 2016, is now the new WING Global Operations for the term 2023-2026. Since its foundation, the membership of WING Türkiye has grown to more than 300 people, 34% of which are male volunteers. As the Global Operations Team, the Turkish team will focus on 3 main areas in the 3-year period:

  • Connect – Keeping in touch with social media and student engagement alongside the existing website;
  • Grow – Building a Gender Equality Library and continuing the Future Leaders program;
  • Develop – Facilitating the establishment of the WING Foundation and continuing the work within the scope of the Matua Project.

The WING Global Operations team consists of Turkish volunteers who continue their work under the leadership of President Umut Destegül Solaroglu and Manager Ayçe Özatalay.

Umut Destegül Solaroglu expressed the team’s thoughts on Turkey’s tenure with the following words: “As the Global Operations Team, we hope to contribute to the success of WING and grow towards becoming a more connected, inclusive and diverse group by never stopping to improve.”
