Jobs – Postdoc research for geothermal energy, Geological Survey of Finland

Energy Disrupter

The Geological Survey of Finland is accepting applications for a post-doc research position on geothermal energy research for low-enthalpy crystalline settings.

The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is advertising an open job position for a Postdoc Research Scientist for geothermal energy research for the Energy and Construction Solutions unit. The expected starting date for the job is in January 2024 and will have a maximum term of 4 years.

The application deadline for this position will be on 14 August 2023. Application can be done via this link.

The position will be based on an office in Espoo with an option to work remotely within Finland.

The chosen candidate will be part of the project “Deep-HEAT-Flows: Discovering deep geothermal resources in low-enthalpy crystalline settings,” funded by the Academy of Finland. The job will involve multidisciplinary research integrating geological field data, high-level laboratory-based petrophysical experiments and geological-geophysical modelling to evaluate the geothermal potential of crystalline reservoirs.

Earlier this year, the first geothermal heating plant in Finland started operations. The plant was built by QHeat and is located in the district of Varisto in Vantaa, Finland.
