Anna Łukaszewska-Trzeciakowska, Poland’s undersecretary of state for climate and environment, told delegates that the country will now aim to achieve 18GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040.

The country will hold four tenders – two for 4GW and two for 2GW – in 2025, 2027, 2029 and 2031.

It has already contracted more than 5.9GW of offshore wind capacity, granting power deals to the likes of Ørsted, Ocean Winds and RWE Renewables.

Poland has also started awarding seabed leases for future contracts for difference (CfD) rounds, and had planned to hold 2.5GW auctions in 2025 and 2027.

“We will increase our ambition for the second phase and increase potential gigawatts,” Łukaszewska-Trzeciakowska said.

The 12GW now set to be awarded from 2025 would add to the nearly 6GW already contracted, bringing Poland’s eventual cumulative pipeline to 18GW, Łukaszewska-Trzeciakowska explained.
