Interested bidders for geothermal research in Northern Ireland may submit their applications on or before 24 March 2022.

Ireland’s Department for the Economy (DfE) has announced a tender for a Contractor to carry out research into the geothermal energy sector of Northern Ireland. Interested parties may submit their bids until 24 March 2022. More details and documents on the tender are available on the eTenders website.

As we reported, the government of Northern Ireland has recently released a New Energy Strategy that puts on emphasis on geothermal in the path to achieving net zero energy. In January 2022, Ireland’s Department of Environment, Climate, and Communications released the “Draft Policy Statement on Geothermal Energy for a Circular Economy” and invited key stakeholders for public consultation on the document.
