Ulstein Design & Solutions said it has won a ship design contract from ZPMC for two types of service operations vessels (SOVs) that Chinese shipyards will build for the Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group.

SOVs are built to support 60POB and 100POB, respectively, to support the operation and maintenance (O & M) of China’s offshore wind power generation.
Both designs feature X-BOW and X-STERN, designed to optimize operational capabilities, functionality and economics, and better serve the renewable energy segment. Batteries are installed to provide an eco-friendly footprint.
“Shanghai Electric is a leading provider of offshore wind turbines in China and we are confident that these two world-class SOVs will bring more value to our clients and provide a safer working environment for our maritime colleagues,” said Ma Chengbin, General manager of Shanghai Electric’s engineering services company.
