PT Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap has announced the Commercial Operations Date of the 91.2-MW Rantau Dedep Geothermal Power Plant in South Sumatra, Indonesia
PT Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap has formally announced the Commercial Operation Date of the 91.2-MW Phase 1 Rantau Dedap Geothermal Power Plant as December 26, 2021. The power plant is located in the South Sumatra province in Indonesia.
PT Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap is a joint venture of PT Supreme Energy (25.2%), ENGIE S.A. (37.4%), Marubeni Corporation (27.4%), and Tohoku Electric Power (10%). Electricity from the power plant will be dispatched to PT PLN (Persero) under a 30-year power purchase agreement.
Drilling in Rantau Dedap started back in 2018, as we reported. The project also received $540 million financing from the ADB that was awarded the Renewable Energy Deal of the Year in 2019.
“The project, awarded under a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) scheme, was completed in 44 months, with the appointed Consortium PT Rekayasa Industri/Fuji Electric as EPC Contractor adhering to environmental standards of ADB and involving over 2,800 manpower for the Geothermal Power Plant. This facility can export power for approximately 500,000 households, while offsetting approximately 475,031 tCO2 a year of carbon dioxide emissions.” wrote ENGIE Senior Project Manager Ralph Hoellmann in a Linkedin post.
“Rantau Dedap project is the most challenging geothermal project due to its remoteness with steep terrain, high elevation (2,600 masl) and constructed in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. It shows again a very strong commitment of PT. Supreme Energy and its partners toward the development of Geothermal Energy in Indonesia to support the Government of Indonesia achieving energy transition objective.” commented PT Supreme Energy Founder and Chairman Supramu Santosa.
