Fred Olsen Renewables plans onshore wind-battery hybrid project in Scotland

Fred Olsen Renewables is seeking permitting approval for a 102MW wind farm with battery storage in the Scottish Highlands.

The wind farm would consist of 17 turbines – indicating an average power rating of 6MW – each with a tip height of 185 metres.
It would also consist of a battery storage component with an output capacity of “around 10MW”, according to planning documents.
Fred Olsen launched a public consultation on the project in early 2021.
It explained that this had helped it to draw up a fuel poverty and energy efficiency programme for local residents. The developer plans to help people consider how they heat their homes, switch to a green tariff and save money on bills.
Fred Olsen has a 4GW onshore wind portfolio in various stages of development, according to its website.
