Renewables giant Ørsted’s finance boss to leave the company

Energy Disrupter

Ørsted’s chief financial officer (CFO) Marianne Wiinholt has decided to step down to accept a position outside the energy industry

She will continue her role until 30 June 2022 at the latest. Wiinholt will join Danish hearing aids manufacturer WS Audiology as their CFO from 1 July 2022 at the latest.

Ørsted’s board of directors has begun the process of identifying the company’s next CFO.

Wiinholt has been the Danish developer’s CFO for eight years and with the company for 17 years. Before being appointed CFO in October 2013, she had spent nine years as Ørsted’s senior vice president of corporate finance.

During her time as CFO, Ørsted shifted from fossil fuels to renewables and boosted its wind power portfolio to become a market leader.

Ørsted CEO Mads Nipper said: “While Marianne will be sorely missed, she leaves Ørsted in great shape for our future journey and with a very strong finance and IT organisation.

“This also gives us a strong pool of internal potential successors for the CFO position.”

The announcement does not change Ørsted’s guidance for the 2021 financial year, nor its expected investment level for 2021, the developer stated.
