The joint venture between Fortum and Rusnano has secured up to 1.6GW of new wind power capacity in Russia’s latest renewables tender, which also saw solar PV and hydropower projects contracted.

Nuclear power giant Rosatom’s renewables subsidiary VetroOGK also secured more than 450MW of new wind capacity, according to results published by the Russian wholesale electricity and power market regulator ATS.

All of this capacity is due to be commissioned between 2025 and 2027.

Finnish state-owned developer Fortum and Russian Nanotechnology firm Rusnano added that the capacity of their total new wind additions will be subject to separate investment decisions.

However, they will be boosted by capacity supply agreement payments worth RUB 16.9-23.8 billion ($230-325 million) to be paid over 15 years from project commissioning.

They expect the average power price to be RUB 2,600-4,200/MWh ($45.45-57.26/MWh) during the 15-year period, a Fortum spokesman added.

ATS also selected at least 775MW of solar PV projects and 96MW of hydropower projects to supply power.
