Geothermal energy can be utilised for multiple industrial applications across different sectors. Therefore, it is necessary to develop geothermal resources, not only for electricity generation but also for utilisation in end-use sectors. This will lead to more possibility to use geothermal resources at lower temperature levels, so more countries have the potential for these types of applications.
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, are co-organising a webinar on Scaling-up geothermal direct use for industrial applications, which aims to highlight the benefits as well as the opportunities for industrial, agri-food and heating and cooling applications of geothermal energy to the key stakeholders in the region and highlight experiences from countries in the region and beyond, that have started the promotion of geothermal direct use applications.
The webinar will be held in Spanish.

The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 11 August, from 18:00h – 20:00h Nairobi Time, through the Zoom platform in Spanish and translated to English (a concept note is attached).

La energía geotérmica se puede utilizar para múltiples aplicaciones industriales en diferentes sectores. Por lo tanto, es necesario desarrollar los recursos geotérmicos, no solo para la generación de electricidad sino también para su utilización en los sectores de uso final. Esto conducirá a más posibilidades de utilizar recursos geotérmicos de baja temperatura, cuyo potencial está más diseminado en diferentes países.

La Agencia Internacional de Energías Renovables (IRENA) y la Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, están co-organizando un webinar para Ampliar los usos directos de la geotermia para aplicaciones industriales, cuyo objetivo es resaltar los beneficios y las oportunidades para las aplicaciones industriales, agroalimentarias y de calefacción y refrigeración de la energía geotérmica para las partes clave interesadas en la región y destacar las experiencias regionales e internacionales.

El webinar se llevará a cabo en español.

This online workshop aims to discuss the challenges as well as the opportunities for direct use applications to the key stakeholders in the region and highlight experiences from countries that have started the promotion of geothermal direct use applications in their jurisdictions.
