Zorlu Energy is now using renewable energy certified electricity from its own Alasehir geothermal power plant in Turkey for its textile operations.

Zorlu Energy uses the green electricity produced at Manisa, Alasehir-I Geothermal Power Plant (GPP) at Zorlu Textile Factory, which is one of the group companies of the Holding and located in K?rklareli. The company certified this use with the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC).

The International REC Standard Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides a robust standard of attribute tracking for use worldwide. The I-REC Standard refers to the first international renewable energy certification standard developed by this organization.

I-REC certification process performed by Foton Yaz?l?m in Turkey, each unit of electricity produced by following starting from the source until it reaches the consumers aims at creating a reliable market. In Turkey, the application is known as YES (Renewable Energy Certificates).

Zorlu Energy Trade General Manager Inanç Salman made the following statement regarding the issue: “As Zorlu Energy, 87% of our installed power and all of our production are based on renewable resources. With this certificate, we certify that we are selling renewable energy to all our customers who request it ”.

Zorlu Geothermal, a 100% subsidiary of Zorlu Energy, successfully completed and commissioned the 45 MW Alasehir 1 Geothermal Power Plant in the Alasehir geothermal field in Manisa, within the scope of the production license valid until 2040. Using domestically produced ejectors in geothermal power plants, Zorlu Energy has become the first company to receive incentives for domestic production in geothermal energy.
