Recycle Your Waxed Paper Milk Cartons With The Help Of Waster!

Waster can help you with your “unrecyclable” products. We offer a service wherein you can send off and recycle your waxed paper milk cartons. How we can help you: through the use of TerraCycle boxes. In the following sections, I will further discuss the processes and information involved.

Plenty Of Recycling Facilities Will Not Accept That Waste

As the above section name suggests, very limited recycling facilities will take in your coated milk carton waste. That is because they are deemed “unrecyclable”. If you are unfamiliar with this term, it usually means the product at hand consists of different kinds of recyclable materials, which makes it difficult to recycle.

As a result, a huge amount of this type of waste ends up in a landfill. It certainly does not help that we only use them once before their disposal, as we usually use them to transport fresh produce, resulting in food contamination. Solutions should be implemented to prevent this from escalating further.

TerraCycle, thankfully, has dedicated themselves to recycle these “unrecyclable” products. So, they are the first one businesses should think of if they want to recycle their waxed (laminated) paper milk cartons waste – or any other types of hard to recycle waste, for the matter.

As stated above, Waster offers the zero-waste recycling box, in which we discuss below the details.

Steps To Shipping Off Your Laminated Paper Packaging Waste

Shipping it off is fairly easy. Once you get the box from us, here is what you should do to ship it off to TerraCycle:

  • Pick the box size you want to purchase – either small or medium for laminated paper packaging (paper milk cartons, for example).
  •  Only put the appropriate type of waste here. In this case, only recycle non-recyclable paper and cardboard packaging (i.e., paper or cardboard with a wax or plastic coating). This includes laminated paper beverage cartons from milk, juice, lemonade, and coffee. The program also accepts laminated paper packaging and cartons from ice cream, sorbet, gelato, popsicles, broth mix, pasta, rice, and ice pops. We will discuss more details with you through our statements below.
  • After you filled it up with the appropriate items, you can then ship the box to TerraCycle. Use the pre-paid shipping label affixed to the TerraCycle box. Rest assured that your sent items are recycled properly and safely.

Items Not To Include

For a smoother process, please do not send in non-laminated paper packaging. You can easily recycle those at the kerbside.

Do not include basic paper packaging. Note that we will not accept household hazardous waste such as pressurized canisters, pesticides, oil-based paint or medical sharps, organics, broken glass, bio-medical waste, soiled diapers or expired medication.

Lastly, we also will not accept any item that is classified as sharps, flammable, reactive, corrosive, ignitable, radioactive, toxic, infectious, or pathogenic.

How Will TerraCycle Recycle The Waste?

First, TerraCycle shreds the collected waste and separates the paper. The recovered paper is recycled. Then, the other materials are further separated through a process called hydropulping for it to be recycled, too.
