Robot starts construction of world’s largest floating offshore wind farm

Norwegian engineering firm Kværner has begun construction of the world’s largest floating offshore wind farm by starting the cutting robot for the project’s first steel sheets.

When completed in 2022, Hywind Tampen’s output will be used to power five oil and gas platform.

The developer predicts the project will meet about 35% of the annual power demand of its Snorre and Gullfaks platforms, reducing emissions from the project by around 200,000 tons a year.
