Nordic developer Cloudberry enters offshore wind
Renewables firm Cloudberry Clean Energy has been given the green light to acquire 100% of the holding company developing a 100MW wind farm in Sweden’s largest lake.
It will acquire Scanvind2, the holding company behind the 100MW Rewind Vänern Rewind Vänern (100MW) OffshoreVänern, Sweden, Europe Click to see full details project in the Vänern lake in the south-west of Sweden, after Scanvind2 shareholders unanimously approved the takeover.
Construction of the 16-turbine project is due to start in 2021 or 2022, Cloudberry stated.
No turbine supplier has been nominated for the project, but with a 100MW total capacity and 16 turbines, the average power rating will be about 6.25MW.
The acquisition marks Cloudberry’s entry into offshore wind. It has previously developed onshore wind and hydropower projects in its home market of Sweden, as well as in neighbouring Norway.
The developer aims to develop 2.5GW of offshore wind farms off Sweden by 2030, it stated.
Cloudberry expects to have closed the transaction for Scanvind2 later this month.
It currently owns one 2.4MW operational onshore wind farm, according to its website, and has also developed and then sold a 131.8MW portfolio of online onshore wind farms.
