Revolutionizing Geothermal Energy: Interview with Toshiba America, Inc.
In an interview during the 10th GEOLAC in Colombia, Toshiba America Inc. CEO Ken Takagi presents Toshiba technology that supports the geothermal sector.
During the 10th Geothermal Congress for Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC 2023) , recently held in the city of Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, the PiensaGeotermia team, in alliance with the New Energy Events team, interviewed Mr. Ken Takagi , president and CEO of Toshiba America, Inc.
In the interview, Mr. Takagi highlighted how Toshiba technology plans to support the development of geothermal energy in the regional market of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In terms of Toshiba’s technology offering, Mr Takagi particularly highlighted the innovative ‘Geoportable™’ , a small-scale geothermal power generation plant that showcases Toshiba’s cutting-edge technology.
Takagi explained, “the capacity of the plant ranges from 1 or 2 MW to around 20 MW,” and emphasized its ability to begin generating electricity as soon as steam resources are available on the surface.
Additionally, he noted that: “the plant could be installed and operated in the early stages of development to evaluate steam resources and plant conditions, laying the foundation for the construction of large-scale power plants in the future.”
