Contracts have been signed for the geothermal exploration of the towns of Slatina, Orahovica, and Nova Bukovica in the Virovitica-Podravina County, Croatia.

The Prefect of the Virovitica-Podravina County in Croatia Igor Androvic has signed four groups of contracts worth HRK 568,000 (approx. USD 81,000) related to the project “Exploration of geothermal potential in Virovitica-Podravinca County.” More specifically, this initiates an geothermal potential assessment for the towns of Slatina, Orahovica, and Nova Bukovica, the data from which will eventually be used for an overall assessment of the geothermal potential of the county.

“After Virovitica, we are one step closer to the geothermal knowledge of the areas of Slatina, Orahovica and Nova Bukovica. When this project is completed, we will get the basis and knowledge of the geothermal potential in Virovitica-Podravina County, which opens the possibility of investing in agriculture through greenhouse production, tourism development, but also the potential for electricity production and direct use of heat.” said Androvic during the signing.

Contracts were signed with director Zelja Sladovic from Geoda Consulting and director Drazan Jaksic of the Energy Institute Hrvoje Pozar.
