UK-based firm identifies potential area for geothermal lithium in Eureka, Nevada
With positive results from an MT survey, UK-based Bradda Head is now proceeding to a drilling programme for geothermal lithium in Eureka, Nevada
UK-based lithium developer Bradda Head has announced that they have identified a potential area for lithium production from geothermal brine in their Eureka asset in Nevada. This announcement follows a magnetotelluric (MT) survey done in the area by Zonge Engineering and Terravision Exploration.
The presence of a low-resistivity anomaly based on the MT survey indicates the presence of brine and clay deposits at depth. Bradda Head had previously conducted surface auger sampling in Eureka and have obtained lithium grades ranging from 41 ppm to 550 ppm lithium. With the positive results, Bradda Head is proceeding with a drilling programme to collect samples from the potential brine reservoir.
Aside from the lithium content of the geothermal brine, Bradda Head is also planning to capitalize on the area’s geothermal power potential. “Eureka has additional benefits in that it has demonstrated considerable geothermal potential,” said Bradda Head CEO Charles FitzRoy. “This is a key point as it could enable us to lower our carbon footprint and running costs for lithium extraction.”
FitzRoy commented that the company will disclose further developments at the Eureka project through 2022.
