PT Supreme Energy announces start of commercial operations of 98.4 MW Rantau Dedap geothermal power plant in South Sumatra, Indonesia.

Yesterday, Commercial Operation (COD) with 91.2MW net generation (2 units, 98.4MW gross) of the Rantau Dedap Geothermal Power Project in Indonesia has been announced in a post by  Senior Project Manager Ralph Hoellmann.

The project has been under development for 10 years, with developer PT Supreme Energy  Rantau Dedap having entered  a 30-years power purchase agreement (PPA) with the state-owned Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to sell the clean CO2 emission-free electricity.

The power plant is located in South Sumatra Province in Indonesia, and developed by PT Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap (SERD), a special-purpose company formed by a joint-venture of ENGIE (37.4%), Supreme Energy (25.2%), Marubeni (27.4%), and Tohoku Electric Power (10%).

The project, awarded under a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) scheme, was completed in 44 months, with the appointed Consortium PT Rekayasa Industri/Fuji Electric as EPC Contractor adhering to environmental standards of ADB and involving over 2,800 manpower for the Geothermal Power Plant. This facility can export power for approximately 500,000 households, while offsetting approximately 475,031 tCO2 a year of carbon dioxide emissions.
