Steven Engels becomes new Director Ørsted Hydrogen

Energy Disrupter

General – appointment

Steven Engels, General Manager Benelux at Ørsted, announced that he will transition into a new role within Ørsted.

After 9 years with Ørsted and 8 years after the Dutch Energy Accord with many milestones along the way, leading to the inauguration of Ørsted’s Borssele 1+2 wind farm last month and growth of Ørsted’s offices in Den Haag and Vlissingen to about 80FTE by the end of year, Steven Engels thinks it is time for something new.

As MD Hydrogen for Benelux and Programme Director for SeaH2Land Steven Engels will further increase his focus on topics such as system integration, sector coupling, decarbonisation of the industry and the role of H2 in all of that, complementing Ørsted’s existing offshore wind business. These themes define the next frontier for the energy transition and are increasingly important to Ørsted.

Steven Engels: “It feels like pioneering all over again and hopefully we can build some new business with many inaugurations to come. And I will combine my new role with my current one, till further notice.”
