Geothermal in 2021 is much more than just a clean, baseload source of power. It is now a potentially key driver of economic recovery and decarbonization across Latin America and the Caribbean. Now how do we realize the potential? Over the course of three packed, deeply interactive days, the 8th Geothermal Congress for Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC) again provides a fantastic insight into the region’s ongoing and planned development, challenges and opportunities. The program is again quite exciting and features key stakeholders of the region and beyond. September 8-9
- Deep-Dive Interviews. In-depth conversations with key leaders from national administration and industry leaders. This is your chance to pitch questions and get answers directly from regional geothermal decision-makers.
- Project Showcases. Shining a spotlight on the projects in the region which are making strides. Where? How?
- Cross-industry Panel Discussions. Industries such as mining and oil & gas are looking closely at geothermal. What do we need to do to get these new relationships over the geothermal finish line?
- Live Debates. On a virtual stage, leaders debate the viability of geothermal as a means to scale up the production of green hydrogen across the region. Contribute your perspective in the live event chat.
September 10 Regional Government Geothermal Showcase. All GEOLAC attendees are invited to participate in a policymaker roundtable hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Gathering senior government officials and regulators from every geothermal country in the region, the roundtable will seek to gauge progress towards geothermal on a country-by-country basis, and assess what inputs are required from the DFIs and the private sector to catalyze progress at a national level.
