PGE develops technology for real-time flow measurement in geothermal wells
The real-time two-phase flow measurement technology being developed by a PT PGE Production Engineering will help to monitor geothermal wells without disrupting production.
PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) Production Engineer Husni Mubarok has developed a two-phase flow measurement system for real-time monitoring of geothermal wells. This is considered a breakthrough in geothermal technology that can help in identifying potential problems without having to disrupt production.
The technology is currently in the field prototype stage and is undergoing testing operations. PT PGE has signed a cooperation with PT El Nusa Tbk (another subsidiary of Pertamina) for the implementation of the testing phase. We had previously reported on the signing of this agreement.
Husni came up with the idea of developing the technology for two-phase flow measurement during his doctoral program in the University of Auckland in New Zealand. The research was supported by both PGE and the University.
“After testing, this technology will be widely used.” said PGE President and Director Ahman Yuniarto. “This is also PGE’s contribution to the development of geothermal in Indonesia and internationally.”
“This is a simple gift from us to this country,” he added.
