Vestas takes over Senvion’s Australian turbine contract

In total, Vestas will supply 24 of its V136-3.45 MW turbines delivered in 3.6MW power optimised mode for the Lincoln Gap 2 wind farm extension, 330km north of Adelaide. 

The Singapore-based developer, Nexif Energy, announced Vestas as the contract supplier earlier today (18 August).

In addition to the EPC contract for the 86MW second phase, the Danish turbine maker will also take over servicing the existing 126MW Lincoln Gap 1 wind farm, fitted with 35 Senvion 3.6MW turbines.

Head of Vestas Australia and New Zealand Peter Cowling said that the Lincoln Gap extension demonstrated an Australian first by integrating two wind turbine models across one project to export power to the grid.

Turbine delivery will start in Q1 2021, will commisioning scheduled for the third quarter, according to Vestas.

Once complete, the Lincoln Gap wind farm will have a total capacity of 212MW, plus a 10MWh battery storage system from Fluence.
