EnergeO to launch seismic surveys to evaluate geothermal in La Cote, Switzerland
EnergeÔ is set to proceed with a series of seismic campaigns to better characterize the potential geothermal resource in the La Cote region of Switzerland.
Swiss geothermal developer EnergeÔ SA have announced plans to launch 3D seismic campaigns to enhance the understanding of potential geothermal resources in the Vinzel, Nyon, and Morges regions in La Cote, Switzerland. Surface exploration permits have already been secured for these activities and the campaigns are expected to start on September 2024.
The permit granted to EnergeÔ corresponds to an area of more than 400 square kilometers in the La Cote region, making it possible to launch various exploration campaigns in 42 municipalities between Nyon, Vinzel, and Morges. The seismic campaign will be similar to the campaign conducted in 2021.
The schedule for the seismic surveys is as follows:
- Vinzel – 17 September 2024 (6-10 working days)
- Nyon – as soon as 1st campaign ends
- Morges – eaerly 2025
The campaign in the Morges region will be done in collaboration with GEOOL and the Lausanne Industrial Services. The prospecting operations will be supervised by Geo2X.
Results from these campaigns are expected by 2025 and will provide key data for future geothermal drilling and potential development of geothermal district heating in the region. The data will also be crucial in finalizing details for the planned drilling of a doublet in the Vinzel region to tap into the resource identified from the 2023 drilling campaign.
EnergeÔ has prepared detailed information on the communes that will be affected by the seismic campaign in Vinzel and Nyon.
