First wind turbine Zhong Neng OWF installed

Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm has achieved a significant milestone with the installation of the first wind turbine.

It is the first of 31 Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines off the coast of Taiwan.

This achievement is a testament to the exceptional teamwork between the shareholders CSC and CIP, the Project team, and contractors, Vestas, CDWE CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering, and Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.

Once the project is completed by year-end, Zhongneng will generate 1.15 billion kWh of green electricity annually and offset 550,000 tons of carbon emissions.

The Chairman of the Zhongneng project, Wang Shyi-chin says: “The installation of the first turbine has set a solid base for the ongoing turbine installation campaign. We look forward to contributing to Taiwan’s renewable energy development through the construction Zhongneng while meeting stringent localization requirements at the same time.”

Together with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, the project is co-funded by China Steel Corporation (CSC) – the largest steel manufacturer in Taiwan.
