Vestas picks up 1.8GW of turbine orders in December
The largest firm order was from Ecowende, the joint-venture between Shell and Eneco, which placed an order for 52 V236-15.0 MW turbines. They are destined for its 760MW wind farm at the 760MW Ecowende (Hollandse Kust West VI) site in the Dutch North Sea. Installation is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with commissioning to follow by the end of 2026, after which Vestas will provide service for 15 years.
In the USA, Vestas received a 401MW order for AES Corporation’s 401MW West Camp project in Navajo County, Arizona. It was for 89 V150-4.5 MW turbines and a multi-year service agreement, with commissioning scheduled for 2025. A 143MW order was also received, for an undisclosed project in the USA, to which Vestas will supply V150 turbines from the 4MW platform.
Elsewhere, Vestas received a firm order from Ilmatar, for 30 V162-6.2 MW turbines for the 186MW Pahkakoski project in Ii, Finland. Another was received from Enefit Green-owned UAB Vejoteka, for 14 V162-6.2 MW turbines for the 90MW Kelmė 2 project in Lithuania, alongside one from BayWa, for the 45MW Dollenkamp project in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. And in Spain, Repsol placed a 31MW order for the STEV wind farm, which forms part of 860MW Delta II in Aragón. The contract includes supply and installation of five V162-6.2 MW turbines and represents the first order for the V162-6.2 MW EnVentus turbines in Spain.
In South Africa, Red Rocket placed a 108MW order for 24 V136-4.5 MW turbines for the 108MW Witberg project in Western Cape. And in early December, Vestas announced that it had agreed to supply 11 V117-4.2 MW turbines to Eurus Energy Holdings, for the 46MW repowering of the Eurus 46MW Kamaishi repowering wind farm in Iwate, Japan.
4GW preferred supplier and exclusivity deals
Finally, Vestas also entered into preferred supplier and exclusivity agreements for the Norfolk offshore wind zone in the UK, which Vattenfall announced today (22 December) that it would sell to RWE.
The OEM was also named preferred supplier for the 1380MW Norfolk Vanguard West project, with the intention to supply it with 92 of Vestas’ V236-15MW turbines. It also signed an exclusivity agreement deal for the 1380MW Norfolk Vanguard East and 1396MW Norfolk Boreas projects, for which it could supply up to 184 V236-15 MW turbines between them.
