IGA signs cooperation agreement for geothermal development in Henan Province, China
The IGA has signed a cooperation agreement with the Henan Branch of the NGEC to promote and support geothermal development in Henan Province in China.
The International Geothermal Association (IGA) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Henan Branch of the National Geothermal Energy Centre (NGEC) to promote the development of the geothermal industry in the Henan Province in China.
The “Henan Province Geothermal Field Strategic Cooperation Memorandum” was signed by IGA Chairman Sylvian Brogle and NGEC Henan Branch Zhang Weining. The signing ceremony was chaired by IGA Geothermal Ambassador Pang Zhonghe and witnessed by IGA Director Liu Jiurong, Honorary President of Henan Clean Energy Heating Association Chen Zemin, National Geothermal Energy Center Henan Branch Deputy Directors Ding Wei and Zhu Changqing, and other leaders.
The Henan Branch of the National Geothermal Energy Center is committed to providing policy research, government-enterprise communication, information services, standard formulation, technical exchanges, equipment services, international exchanges, training, and other services to the industry. It is an important factor in accelerating clean energy heating in Henan Province. An important platform for high-quality industrial development.
In recent years, with the active promotion of the Henan Branch of the National Geothermal Energy Center, Henan’s geothermal industry has made great progress.
During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, Henan will vigorously develop mid- and deep-level geothermal heating and create four concentrated contiguous demonstration areas for geothermal energy heating with an area of 10 million square meters. The NGEC Henan Branch will use IGA’s international vision to promote Henan geothermal enterprises to enter the international market. On the other hand, it will also provide them with broader development in building a geothermal value chain.
According to the agreement, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation based on the memorandum of cooperation, focusing on professional talent training, promotion and application of new technologies, project investment and equipment introduction, international exchanges to explore new ideas and methods for the development and utilization of geothermal energy, and to promote Henan’s geothermal industry.
“Geothermal is becoming an important force in achieving the goal of zero carbon emissions. Henan is rich in geothermal energy resources, has a good development foundation and broad development prospects. The International Geothermal Association looks forward to this cooperation bringing fruitful results to both parties,” said Brogle during the ceremony.
“Henan Province has a first-class policy and market environment. The NGEC Henan Branch will sign a cooperation memorandum and join hands with the IGA to further promote Henan’s geothermal industry to better integrate with international standards and promote Henan’s cooperation with other countries around the world. Practical cooperation in the geothermal field will provide intelligent support to help achieve the ‘double carbon’ goal,” said Zhang Weining.
Zhang Weining said that after years of development, geothermal heating has become a business card of Henan, in terms of management, technology, and operations. These have formed a unique “Henan characteristic”, that defined by “policy guidance, industrial aggregation, technological innovation, and smart operation.”
