GE launches online store for spare wind turbine parts to rival Vestas’ Covento
GE stated that the store would focus on “spare parts” for onshore wind turbines specifically, “including parts for all major wind turbine OEMs”.
Various tools, safety gear and office supplies used in the wind industry will also be available in the digital marketplace.
GE’s store will include credit options for customers along with digital invoicing, the company stated.
Uzair Memon, chief commercial officer at GE Vernova, said: “We’ve heard a lot of feedback from our customer base that it would help them to be able to access both GE and other OEM parts all in one location, and we are pleased to work with a variety of experienced and reliable suppliers to offer this.”
GE’s announcement of the online shop follows rival manufacturer launching its own online marketplace for wind industry parts – Covento – in 2021. The Danish turbine giant’s digital marketplace is currently available in five European markets, namely France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark.
Vestas previously described the aftermarket for onshore and offshore wind, solar, storage and power-to-x as a “multi-billion-euro segment” of the renewable energy sector.
