Home Energy Audits Are Back! | City News – City of Santa Clara
It’s been several years since we’ve been able to perform free in-home energy audits for Santa Clara residents due to the pandemic but beginning Jan. 23, we’re resuming energy audits for customers looking for ways to lower their electric bill or make investments in energy efficient improvements.
During a free home energy audit, a qualified specialist will examine your home and help you find ways to reduce energy waste, improve comfort, and lower energy bills. Along with an analysis of your past energy use and current practices, you’ll also receive free energy education materials. Qualifying customers will also receive free energy-saving devices for your home. To learn more and to schedule an audit, visit SiliconValleyPower.com.
Customers who are not interested in an in-home energy audit can request a phone consultation by calling our energy conservation specialist at 408-244-SAVE (7283) or emailing cutcosts@siliconvalleypower.com.
Santa Clara residents who have a library card at the Santa Clara Library can check out tools from our Tool Lending Library, including a Kill A Watt meter. This handheld meter plugs into an electric outlet and you plug electronic devices into the meter to determine the amount of energy they use. Along with our Appliance Use Chart, a Kill A Watt meter can help you determine where the most electricity is consumed in your home and how behavior changes or energy efficiency upgrades can help lower your electric bill.
