Ukrainian developer: ‘All our wind farms are under occupation’
Organisers of the online conference asked journalists to postpone the briefing by half an hour after they were forced to take cover in a shelter when an air-raid siren went off.
The briefing was held today to provide information on the state of Ukraine’s energy security, following recent shelling by Russian forces that targeted energy, telecommunication and civil infrastructure, as well as city traffic.
DTEK’s assets are located in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, which has seen heavy shelling by Russian forces in recent days.
Commenting on their current status, Timchenko said: “Unfortunately, all our wind farms are under occupation at the moment. We have 500MW of wind farms, all of them located in the Zaporizhzhia region.”
He added: “It’s not operating now. It’s not destroyed and it’s not damaged as far as we know – but it’s not in operation.”
