New service life for Valhall (VIDEO)
Fossil Energy – Valhall
After 40 years in production, some of the Valhall facilities have done their job. They have now been removed and transported to Aker Solutions, Stord.
More than 30,000 tonnes of installation have been removed from the Valhall field center in the last couple of weeks, and more than 95% will be recirculated.
The work is provided by the Modifications Alliance with Aker Solutions and Aker BP, as well as Allseas’s large vessel Pioneering Spirit.
Furthermore, removal and disposal work on the PCP jacket and the old Hod A platform will also be carried out.
The giant Valhall has produced over a billion barrels of oil equivalents since the field was opened in 1982. The ambition is to produce a total of two billion barrels from the area.
In order to further develop the area, a new central platform is planned on the field centre and this also enables tie-in of the King Lear field. The coordinated development will contribute to extend the service life and increased value creation from Valhall.
