Registration open for first-ever GEOTHERMAL DATATHON
The GEOTHERMAL DATATHON challenges participants to use data and engineering skills to solve a real-world EGS problem from Utah FORGE data. Registration for the event is now open.
Registration is now open for the first ever GEO DATATHON, an event where participants will use modern machine leaning methods to solve a geothermal engineering problem from the Utah FORGE project. This event is part of PIVOT 2022 and has been organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Gulf Coast Section, SPE Calgary, and SPE Data Science and Engineering Analytics.
Participant registrations will be accepted until Tuesday, June 21st. Interested groups or individuals may register via this link.
The GEO DATATHON will bring hundreds of enthusiasts from data and engineering backgrounds together to crunch the numbers and solve real EGS challenges using existing field data from Utah FORGE. Participants will use their combined engineering and data skillsets to create predictive models to aid future geothermal energy production and generate actionable insights to help solve the real-world design problem.
More details on the prizes and event rules can be viewed at the official event page.
The annual PIVOT ‘From Hydrocarbons to Heat’ gathering will be held in the week of July 25, 2022. The Pivot events are a decade-long series aimed at tracking, celebrating, and instigating oil and gas industry engagement in geothermal research, development, and scale.
