Diamond announces new deal and contract extensions

Diamond Offshore has reported a new deal and a few contract extensions for its floating rigs.

Firstly the driller has confirmed that drillship Vela has been awarded a new one-well plus one-well option contract with BHP in the US Gulf of Mexico. The commitment will begin in September and run through December 2022.

Next, UK-based, mid-water semisubs Ocean Patriot and Ocean Endeavor will remain on their current deals with Apache and Shell until Q4 2022 and Q4 2023, respectively.

Meanwhile, semisub Ocean Onyx is now set to remain working with Beach Energy offshore Australia until July this year.
