Flurry of onshore wind farm acquisitions in Nordics

Finnish utility Helen and the Bank of Åland’s wind power fund have acquired a 165MW wind farm from French developer Valorem amid a flurry of project acquisitions in the Nordic region.

Construction is due to start in April 2022, with the wind farm due to enter full operations in January 2025.

Helen will own an unspecified majority stake in the project, while the Bank of Åland will hold a minority share.

Elsewhere, Finnish construction firm Enersense International completed its acquisition of Finnish wind farm developer Megatuuli, which has a pipeline of about 3GW of wind power capacity in Finland. It paid €18.5 million for all the shares in Megatuuli.

And Norwegian developer Cloudberry Clean Energy acquired a two-phase late-stage development project in Sweden with a combined capacity of 36MW.

Each 18MW phase of the project in Lindesberg, central Sweden, is expected to use three of German turbine manufacturer Eno Energy’s eno-160 6MW turbines.

It aims to begin commercial operations of the projects in 2023 or 2024.
