CANTON – Stark County Community Action Agency will hold Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) winter crisis Super Saturday help sessions Nov. 13, Dec. 4, Dec. 18, Jan. 15, Jan. 29, Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 12 and March 26. 

Doors will open at 8 a.m. at 1370 Market Ave. N. Service is first-come, first-serve. 

You need to bring with you the following: 

  • Proof of income – Income (including child support received/paid out) for past 30 days for all household members ages 18 and up – if seasonal or self-employed – you must provide past 12 months income.  
  • Utility bills – Gas and electric bill, whether you need assistance with both or not.  
  • Pending account numbers if your gas/electric service is off or you are transferring services. If you use bulk fuel (wood, propane, fuel oil, coal), you need your account number.  
  • Social Security numbers/ dates of birth – You must know Social Security numbers and birth dates for all household members.  
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship – You must provide proof of citizenship documentation for all household members.  
  • Landlord – If you rent, you must know your landlord’s name, address and phone number.
  • If you are applying on behalf of another household, you must have notarized statement or power of attorney dated within the last 12 months authorizing you to conduct business on their behalf.  

HEAP winter crisis walk-in assistance also is held every Thursday and Friday at the HEAP Satellite Office, 3220 Cleveland Ave. NW.

 Walk-in households must call the toll-free walk-in hotline at 330-617-1054 on Thursdays or Fridays of each week between 7 and 11 a.m. to receive a walk-in timeslot for that same day between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
