Ørsted completes foundations installation at Hornsea Two offshore wind farm

All of Hornsea Two’s 165 foundations have been installed, alongside the project’s offshore substation (OSS).

It paves the way for installation of the remaining third of the SG 8.0-167 DD turbines, at the 462km2 North Sea project site, 89km off Yorkshire, eastern England.

Weighing about 8,000 tonnes, the OSS is also the world’s largest AC offshore substation. Installation of all 390km of export cable has also been completed recently.

Duncan Clark, head of UK region for Ørsted, said: “Hornsea Two will become our 13th offshore wind farm in the UK and once it’s operational Ørsted will be supplying over 7% of Britain’s electricity”. It might also become the focus of a green hydrogen project.
