Webinar – Virtual Tour of Insheim geothermal plant, June 11, 2021
Join this week’s webinar of IGC.events for a virtual tour of the 4.8 MW Insheim geothermal power and heat plant in Germany.
This week’s webinar by IGC.events will present a “Virtual tour in the Geothermal Power Plant Insheim, Germany” presented by Jörg Uhde, CEO of PfaIzwerke geofuture GmbH, operator of the Insheim geothermal power plant
- Day: Friday June 11, 2021
- Time: 14:00 CEST
The geothermal power plant of Insheim taps a geothermal reservoir in a depth of 3,600 meters with a temperature of around 160 degrees Celsius. The plant has today a geothermal generation capacity of 4.8 MWe with an annual output of about 33,000 MWh sufficient to supply electricity to around 8,000 households. The developer and operator is Pfalzwerke geofuture GmbH.
Planning for the project started in February 2007 and the plant was commissioned in November 2012. The plant was built by Ormat Technologies.
Key figures
- Thermal water temperature: 165 degrees C
- Flow rate: 50-80 l/ s
- electrical output: 4.8 MWel – electricity production for approx.8,000 households
- optional thermal output: approx. 6-10 MWth – Heat production for approx. 600 to 800 households
